Most wigs come in an average cap size and can be adjusted about 1 to 1½ inches with the tabs at the nape. Measuring first helps you choose the size that fits you best, which matters at the outlet because all sales are final.
You'll need
A soft tape measure and a mirror. Flatten your hair first and keep the tape snug against your head without pulling it tight.
Take three measurements
- Circumference. Start at the center of your front hairline. Go just above one ear, around the back of your head at the nape of your neck, above the other ear and back to where you started.
- Front to nape. Tilt your head back to find where your neck bends: that is your nape. Measure from your front hairline straight over the top of your head to that point.
- Ear to ear. Measure from the top of one ear, over the crown, to the top of the other ear.
Find your cap size
| Cap size | Head circumference |
|---|---|
| Petite | 21 inches and smaller |
| Average | 21½ to 22½ inches |
| Large | 22½ inches and larger |
Then compare your numbers with the measurements listed on each product page. For more fit help, see the Wig Help Center.
